Nassau County Class B Champions!!!

Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Basketball team on capturing the Nassau County Class B Championship with a thrilling 48-36 victory over Carle Place. Locust Valley trailed 11-10 after one quarter, but would tie the score at 21 going into halftime. Senior Alexis Monserrate would score 12 of her game-high 30 points in the half (including 2 three pointers) and Natasha Jachan scored 5 of her 7 points in the second quarter as well. Jachan's defense also helped shut down Carle Place's leading scorers all evening long. Locust Valley would lead 30-29 going into the 4th quarter. That's when Monserrate would take over the game. She scored 11 points down the stretch, including all 5 of the Lady Falcons' field goals in the quarter. Fellow Seniors Courtney Morgan and Taylor Coddington would hit huge free throws late in the quarter also to ice the game. Senior Isabel Pagliaccio played outstanding defense throughout the game and came up with three tremendous blocks and 5 rebounds in the game's final minutes. The Lady Falcons have earned the right to play for the Long Island Championship on Tuesday, March 9 at 5:00 p.m. on the campus of St. Joseph's College in Patchouge. Game time and opponent to be determined. First, however, Locust Valley will battle East Rockaway on February 27, for the Nassau County "Small School's" Championship at C.W. Post at noon.
